"These shows are a comparison shopper's dream come true," Karen says. While at the show, she also obtained information on loan approvals from M&T Bank, purchased a hand-crafted rustic log bedroom set from Ottertail Cedar Log Furniture, and custom-ordered an antler chandelier for their future great room from Terry Wilson Antler Designs.
During their two-day visit to the show, Karen and Brent attended three workshop sessions. Brent, the handyman in the family, attended "Log Home Maintenance and Preservation," presented by Ken Bateson of Perma-Chink Systems. Karen, the family's self-described money manager, attended "Financing Your Log or Timber Home," presented by Doug Groff of American Log Mortgage. Together, the couple got an overview of the whole custom home building process from Mike McLaughlin of Lincoln Logs Ltd with “Your Log Home – From Dream to Reality.”
"We've been subscribers to Log Home Living magazine for three years," Brent says. "I've purchased several books and décor items from the Bookstore. We've both spent many hours on www.logandtimberhome.com! The Log & Timber Home Show is the place to go for all the things you need to know."
What is The Log & Timber Home Show?
The Log & Timber Home Show is focused on log and timber frame homes. In addition to home producers, you'll find suppliers of building products, home decor, furniture, windows and doors, taxidermy, lighting, and wood care products. The shows are designed for every level of log home enthusiast—from the novice to the seasoned veteran. Show Features
- “Request for Information” cards – Every attendee registering at the show receives a name badge and personalized show cards. These show cards contain your contact information and make you a much more efficient shopper. Rather than spending valuable time writing down your name and address every time you want an exhibitor to mail you a catalog or more information, you can simply drop off a “Request for Information” card and move on.
- Home plan review service – Log and timber home manufacturers are prepared to review your home plans—even rough sketches—and provide a cost estimate proposal for your dream home, right at the show. Home producers also offer standard home plans, which can be priced right at the show. The home plan review process often results in suggestions that may lower construction costs or improve the livability of your floorplan.
- Workshops – Free informative workshops are presented each hour at the show. Each session is presented by an industry professional. A general question-and-answer period follows the presentation.
- The Log & Timber Home Bookstore – The bookstore sells books that are specific to buying, building and maintaining log and timber frame homes. You can also find home décor and gift items for the log home enthusiast. Visit the Bookstore now!
